January 23
“What is your operating reference?” This was the mantra of Ed Wills, a colleague on the staff at St. Andrew’s in Jackson, Mississippi. He would regularly offer this question in meetings and in small group conversations. It was his way of calling forth the thoughts, values, and hopes that were the context from which we approached whatever it was we were discussing. I appreciated it, most of the time, as it served to clarify and name what was driving us, what was motivating us, what we were hoping for in these moments.
An Annual Meeting is a time when we get to name and clarify the things that are motivating us as a faith community. It is a time to hear from various ministries about their work and their hopes. It is a time to elect new vestry persons. It is a time to recall from where we have come and to where we hear the Spirit leading us.
This year’s Annual Meeting will take place on Sunday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. Among the reports: our Treasurer, our youth, our Care of Creation Committee, a delegation from All Souls going to Durgapur and the recently formed Campaign Committee. We will also have time to gather information about ways members of All Souls are connected to ministries and agencies which are engaged ‘with the world about us.’ This latter information will be added to a published database to which all parishioners will have access.
Join us on the 23rd as we gather in the Nave.
