Once again this year, volunteers will take to the streets to raise money for a wide range of projects to fight hunger, both in our own community and throughout the world. Seventy-five percent of funds raised through the local CropWalk will help fund efforts by Church World Service in such wide-ranging locations as the Balkans, Haiti, Pakistan, Cambodia, and the United States’ Gulf Coast.
The remaining 25 percent of funds raised on Oct. 10 will stay in our community to be divided equally among MANNA, ABCCM, Meals on Wheels, and Loving Food Resources. Last year, the CROP Walk locally raised almost $30,000.
You can help by signing up to walk, recruiting sponsors to donate through you; agreeing to sponsor walkers from All Souls for any amount you can contribute; or by serving as a volunteer to assist with responsibilities such as crosswalk guards or registration.
Look for information and sign-up sheets at church. Call Mike Stevenson for more information (254-5227) or go to the website, www.cropwalkab.org.
