The youth are planning a trip to the Heifer educational ranch in Arkansas this July. They will participate in the Global Challenge program, experiencing a night similar to that of many recipients of Heifer’s aid.
They will continue to sell shares in the Heifer trip each Sunday for the next few weeks. Thanks to all of you who have already bought shares or donated! We are well on our way to Arkansas.
Youth Ministry Update: Parents’ Meeting May 1
There will be a gathering for parents on Sunday, May 1, 3:30- 4:30 (EYC meets 3-5 this day) in the Warner Building Conference Room. Members of the search group will be present to offer the fruit of our work for your feedback. Our plan is to begin advertising this position May 8 with the hope of beginning interviews in later May. If you have names of folks you think might be interested in this position, please pass them on to me or one of the members of the search group (Marc Assad, Cindy Donley, Helene Heilig, Cydney Pitts, Dan Stevenson or AK Benninghofen our Vestry Liaison). Again, many thanks to Marc, Cindy, Helene, Cydney and Dan for their work with our search.
Calendar
May 1:
Acolyte Recognition Sunday
We will recognize and give thanks for all acolytes at the 9:00 and 11:15 services. If you are not scheduled that day we will call you up from the congregation to be recognized. We greatly appreciate what you do in the liturgy (and for keeping the priests straight during the service) and want to let the congregation show their appreciation in these services as well.
Community Action Day
3-5:00 p.m. Meet at Jubilee (we are going to be working with their youth group). We will be visiting one of the group homes we ‘caroled’ at during our Christmas evening to do yard work, raking, trimming and the like.
May 8:
Sunday School Teacher Recognition / Bishop’s visit / last day of Sunday School
May 15:
Graduating Senior Sunday
In addition to giving thanks for their lives in our community, they will be guest preachers for the day at the 9:00 and 11:15 services.
Ice Cream Social and Summer Planning
4-7:00 p.m. We will be playing games on the lawn, basketball, whatever you guys want to play. We will also be making a giant banana split and discussing summer plans. What would we like to do over the summer as the EYC? What kind of events? When might we meet (since we are free from school schedule!)?
May 22-24:
Kanuga Family Weekend
