We have a full and fun October planned, so mark your calendars now and we hope to see you often this month!
Oct. 2:
We will meet on campus to learn more about the issue of hunger and families/children in WNC. Jay Clarkson will lead a discussion about “Food Security” and help us plan how we can best raise money for the CROP Walk on Oct 16th. Please bring a packed lunch. 1–3:30 p.m.
Oct 9: This is a big day for the EYC!
1 p.m.—We will be picked up in a bus from our campus for a “Mind the Gap Tour” sponsored by Children First. We will be driven through parts of Asheville that most of us (probably) don’t go through (by design) very often. We will discuss how poverty and economics keep the gap between the wealthy and the poor open, how this gap impacts us as Christians, and our calling to work for the “least of these.” Then…
6-8 p.m.—Following the bus tour of Asheville we have an opportunity, with other youth groups across Asheville, to hear some great live music by the Ugandan group Kinobe and Soul Beat Africa at Covenant Christian Church. Please let me know if you are able and interested as I only have a few tickets to this event! (Parents are welcome too!)
Oct. 14: Dinner for Heifer Trip Sponsors.
All EYC members are encouraged to attend, whether or not you were able to go on the Heifer Ranch trip this summer. 6:30 p.m.
Oct. 16: CROP Walk!
The walk is scheduled to leave First Baptist at 2 p.m., and will follow the same route as last year.
Oct. 23: Corn Maze at Eliada Home! Nothing says AWESOME like corn mazes, hot apple cider, games and fall foliage. We will leave from the Cathedral at 1:30 and return by 4:30.
Oct. 30:
Happy Halloween Party here at All Souls! I don’t yet know what this means… Wanna help plan a fun party for Halloween and perhaps invite Trinity EYC too?? Call or email me and let me now if you want to help plan this get-together!
Ok, so that is whasup for October… service fun service fun… remember it takes BOTH to have a balanced life. So plan to join us for the service/learning projects as well as the celebrations.
Peace,
Milly
