“A fine day with 16-18 participants,” report Margie Johnson and Anne Kime, organizers for the flower workshop presented by women of the Flower Guild of St. John’s Cathedral, Knoxville, in All Souls’ parish hall October 16.
Those participating included “long-standing members and newcomers, pros and novices.” Clinicians from St. John’s were Martha McClellan, Ginny Rogers and Mary Lynn Majors.
All Souls’ organizers said, “Hundreds of flowers were sold to us at cost by John at Clement’s Flower Shop. Many greens were donated by All Souls’ parishioners. Some of the arrangements were delivered by the participants to local nursing and assisted living homes. Others were sold and more than $100 was raised for supplies for use at All Souls.
There is new enthusiasm for flower arranging for the church and members are asked to search cupboards for suitable containers and other supplies for use by the guild.
Margie Johnson said, “Our clinicians were thrilled with the beauty of All Souls and gave us many ideas for enhancing the space. St. John’s is known for its flowers and is a similarly historic building.
Canon Brian Cole said it is hoped the flower workshop is the beginning of many initiatives with St. John’s.
New members are always welcome. If you think you would like to join the Flower Guild team, please call Margie Johnson, 664-0177, or Anne Kime, 505-7089.
