Furry Friends To Be Blessed
9:00 am Oct. 3rd
Animals from aardvarks to zebras, but mostly dogs, cats, and birds will be blessed at All Souls’ annual observance of St. Francis Day. Reptiles (small) are welcome, too.
Blessing of the animals will be an outdoor service at 9 a.m. on Oct. 9 in the churchyard. Parishioners may bring all pets for a blessing by a priest on that day. They are asked to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets as well.
St. Francis is the patron saint of animals. He is often depicted as a monk in a garden setting feeding the wild birds.
