Jan Davis
Jan and her husband, Steve, moved to Asheville in 1989 from Rome, Georgia, where they and their two daughters, Courtney and Cathryn, were active in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Upon moving to Asheville, the family became active in Jubilee! but moved to All Souls in 2006. Jan now serves at the early morning services. She has participated in the book group, Room in the Inn, the DOCC program, and has recently worked with Brian in coordinating the upcoming Egypt pilgrimage. She is also active at Servanthood House. Jan taught in public schools as a media specialist for 17 years and currently works as a residential real estate broker with Beverly Hanks and Associates. She maintains a pottery studio in her home.
Yates Pharr
Yates, his wife Marisa, and their three girls, Annie, Lucy and Mary, have been members of All Souls since moving to Asheville in 1998. Yates grew up in Charlotte, NC, and has been coming to the western NC area all his life visiting family and going to summer camp. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University and was in the commercial real estate development business with both The Bissell Companies in Charlotte and Biltmore Farms in Asheville, before becoming the owner/director of Falling Creek Camp in Tuxedo, NC in 2005. The Pharr’s are usually 9-o’clockers who enjoy the many offerings of All Souls. Yates has served on both the Endowment and Stewardship Commissions. He enjoys running, biking, and paddling.
Carla Dimmitt Schell
Carla was born in Louisville, KY and raised at St. Marks Episcopal Church. She retired from the Buncombe County Schools System in 2008 after 33 years in education including teaching children with special needs in the military system in Mannheim, Germany. Carla has been a Sunday school teacher and co-coordinator. At the Cathedral she is a greeter, a teller, has participated in DOCC and participates with the Room at the Inn. Her passion is working for African Medical Mission, a nonprofit group in Mthatha, South Africa that supports Bedford Orthopedic Hospital and Itipini Clinic and Community, a squatters camp of about 3,000.
David Thompson
David and his wife Vicki and daughter Victoria came to All Soul’s four years ago. David and Vicki have been active in altar guild and have served as docents. They have also participated in Parish work days, Food Booth sales, and many other parish events and activities. David is Director of Student Services for Buncombe County Schools and is a long-time advocate for children’s mental health services. He currently serves on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, Buncombe County Drug Commission, and the Partnership for Drug Free Students in Buncombe County. When not at work, David enjoys hiking, biking, reading, and spending time with family.
