The Other Annual Meeting
While the adults were electing vestry members and listening to financial reports, similarly weighty issues were being considered by the children under the leadership of Thomas Murphy and Clerk Maria, and in the lap of Milly Morrow. The question of whether to have goldfish or pretzels for snack was resolved with a decision of “Both.” The continuance of the “Find Jesus” game was overwhelmingly passed, and a rule from the floor that when an adult is talking the children should be quiet also got the green card.
The participants enjoyed their first taste of parliamentary procedure. The child of a current vestry member was reported to have said to her mother that evening, “You must LOVE going to Vestry, Mama.”
