Summary of Vestry Meeting Minutes
October 18, 2010
Continuing business:
- Heard report from Campaign Exploration Committee. Committee recommends a capital campaign be conducted in 2011 for roof repairs and other projects. Vestry discussed the report and voted to accept the report and make plans toward a capital campaign.
- Ann McLearan and Thomas Murphy are recommended for ordination to priesthood. Vestry approves.
- Heard a progress report from Vestry nominating committee. Four persons are rotating off vestry at end of year.
- Heard update on new church directory photo sessions.
- Roof repair progress report: contract has been signed with Kestrel Construction, down payment made for purchase of underlayerment materials and tiles. Roof will be computer ‘mapped’ for replacement tiles.
- Line of credit with Wachovia Wells Fargo approved at $350,000 and will be drawn on for repairs with approval of vestry.
- Dean reported Adult Forum topic for November will be End of Life Issues and Transitions. A forum on planned giving is scheduled for early 2011.
New business:
- Executive Committee will gather potential names for a campaign committee and report back to Vestry in November.
- Discussion and encouragement to explore installation of energy-saving geothermal heating and air conditioning on campus.
- Diocesan Convention Elections: Robin Boylan is nominated to serve on for diocesan Trustees. Motion to approve is by Brenda Lilly, seconded by A.K. Benninghoffen. Motion carried. Rob Newcomer was nominate to serve on diocesan Executive Committee and Brian Cole was nominated to serve as Delegate to General Convention at our September meeting. Jack Parsons is being appointed to diocsean Fiscal Ministries.

Treasurer’s report made by Jack Parsons. Pledge and plate income is where it should be at this time of year. Expenses are a bit lower than budgeted. Vestry approved the hiring of accounting firm Painter-Russell for annual audit.
