Thanksgiving Potluck Feeds Large Turnout

A larger than expected crowd was fed at All Souls’ annual potluck dinner on Thanksgiving Day in the parish hall. After 72-75 parishioners and friends were fed, there was food left over to take to the WNC Rescue Mission.

The dinner followed the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Nov. 24. Volunteers working in the kitchen had the buffet-style feast on the table soon after the service. The Rev. Charlotte Cleghorn said the blessing for the occasion.

Chairman Nancy Marlowe ordered turkey, dressing and gravy from the Ingle’s deli nearest the church. Carol Anders and her crew, Gretchen and Jack Morris of Hendersonville (David Chestnut’s parents), arranged seasonal decorations on the tables. Jean Scribner lent her collection of figurines to decorate the buffet table.

Tables were set up by Paul Brezny and David Fortney. Julie Fortney organized the serving table. Many other volunteers pitched in to help clean up.

The dinner was open to all parishioners. Singles came as did Scott and Margaret Harvey’s extended family of eight.
