Thomas Murphy was ordained a priest of the Episcopal Church in ceremonies at The Cathedral of All Souls, Biltmore Village, Saturday, Dec. 11. The Right Rev. G. Porter Taylor, bishop of the Diocese of Western North Carolina, officiated.
The newly ordained priest will continue to serve as clergy at All Souls and with his duties as a chaplain at the University of North Carolina, Asheville.
The Rev. Brian Cole, sub-dean and canon of All Souls Cathedral, delivered the ordination sermon, charging the ordinand to “seek Jesus” throughout his work as a pastor.
Clergy from the diocese participated in the blessing and vesting of the new priest.
Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Rev. Todd Donatelli, was among those presenting Thomas Murphy for ordination in the Sacred Order of Priests. He invited the congregation and guests to a reception following in the parish hall.
