Women’s Gathering
Women of All Souls will be hosting Church Women United as we celebrate World Community Day on November 13th at The Cathedral of All Souls. Registration/Coffee half hour is at 9:30 a.m. in Owen Library with the program in the Sanctuary beginning promptly at 10:00 a.m.
This year’s program is contemplation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s vision of “The Beloved Community.” His vision of “The Beloved Community” is a world in which people of many nations and traditions work together in a commitment of nonviolent means. Together we consider examples of economic injustice in the light of a goal; communities that promote the dignity, safety and economic opportunities for all. Claudia Ellquist, Kristina Peterson and Jeanette Ross, National Ecumenical Celebrations Committee members, have written this service.
The logo for World Community Day 2010 depicts hearts of all sizes and shapes radiating out of one enormous heart-center. Folk artist Florence Naquin, a member of TARC, Terrebonne Association for Retarded Citizens, designed it.
Our Speaker is Asheville-based photographer Tracey Schmidt who will share the museum touring images and interviews that came out of the work she has done with Native Americans, focusing on their wisdom and gifts they have to offer us.
Diane Mance, Asheville area Church Women United President and a member of St. Mathias Episcopal Church, will be the convener.
All Women of All Souls are invited to this celebration. Questions, call Lisa Sellers at 582-4288.
